WHAT DO TRAVELERS SAY ABOUT SERENGETI SAFARI EXPERIENCE WITH US?

Great safari organizer

African Scenic is well-rated and they deserve it. Tom was our safari guide for 4 days in Tanzania and did a fantastic job. Eyes of an eagle and a sense of humor as well. He’s been a guide for years, and his knowledge/experience showed – it felt like all the other guides in the parks were following his lead! Great guy.

Priyank was our contact in sales and he was very thorough in his answers, patient with our many back-and-forths and itinerary tweaks, and put together a solid package. He also answered our non-safari questions, which he didn’t have to but was appreciated. They provided a private 4×4 jeep and can arrange the budget, mid-range, and luxury lodging. Great outfit, you’d be well served in choosing them.

As an FYI, we also used African Scenic to organise our gorilla safari in Uganda. They use partners there, so they can also handle other countries, which is a plus compared to many other providers in Tanzania

Top 10 things to know for a memorable Serengeti safari experience

Serengeti National Park is a well-known safari destination in the Eastern African country of Tanzania. This Tanzanian National Park is one of the best national parks in the world.

The Serengeti is one of the oldest ecosystems that hosts a spectacular wildlife show on the planet- the Wildebeest Migration. There is no better experience than enjoying a Serengeti National Park Safari that brings you close to nature and wildlife.

The Mecca of National Parks, Serengeti, is home to millions of wildlife, famous for its natural wonders, and world-class accommodation facilities.

Here are the best things to know about the iconic Tanzania National Park to enjoy memorable Tanzania Safari Tours!

Best Time for Serengeti Safari to Explore Wild Tanzania

The Serengeti National Park Tour ensures phenomenal wildlife spotting all year round.

It has got two seasons: wet and dry. June to March is the dry season in Serengeti National Park. The dry season is optimal for wildlife spotting in the Serengeti. Shorter grass and dry vegetation make it easy to watch wildlife.

The River Crossings

The river crossing is one of the attractions of the Wildebeest Migration that attracts visitors to a Serengeti Safari. One of the best times for a safari in the Serengeti is during the Grumeti and Mara River crossings. It is during this time that millions of wildebeest cross the crocodile-infested waters to reach the Masai Mara Reserve.

These river crossings occur from June to October. Many camps close to the river crossings offer the best views of the river crossings in Serengeti during the peak dry season.

A Bird Lover’s Paradise

If you want to skip the crowds, consider a Serengeti safari during the wet season. The Serengeti National Park experiences overcast skies and rain during April and May.

It is the perfect time for bird enthusiasts to enjoy a Serengeti safari. You can spot more than five hundred migrant and resident bird species in the Serengeti.

Wildebeest Migration
Wildebeest Migration

What Makes the Serengeti Safari So Special?

For many, the main attraction of the Serengeti National Park Tour is the Great Wildlife Migration. The most spectacular event is the movement of over two million wildebeests. The migration movement happens across the landscape in search of fresh water and grass. Witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration is a mesmerising sight.

The wonderful thing is that the Great Migration is never-ending. It follows a circular path around the Serengeti National Park and Masai Mara Reserve. You can witness most of the Wildebeest Migration action in Serengeti National Park.

The Great Wildebeest Migration is the most iconic land-based wildlife migration!

The Great Migration consists of millions of animals like wildebeests, zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles.

Seeing The Big Five on A Serengeti Safari

The African Big Five refers to the leopard, lion, elephant, Cape buffalo, and rhino. Most safari enthusiasts are keen to spot all of the Big Five in Serengeti National Park.

On a game drive in Serengeti, there is a better chance of seeing as much wildlife as possible.

Elephants, Lions, and buffalo are easy to spot! You have a high chance of seeing them during a Serengeti Safari. Serengeti National Park has a high density of wildlife.

This Tanzania National Park has more lions than other reserves or national parks. The lion population in Serengeti is around 3,500.

Leopards and black rhinos are a bit harder to spot. With an experienced guide, you can manage to track and spot the rhinos and leopards.

The Big Five is not because of the size of the animals. The name Big Five is for the difficulty and fierceness of hunting the animals. Wildlife in Tanzania is well protected to keep the Big Five safe in their natural habitat.

Wear Perfect Clothing For The Safari

Why wear earth-tone and khaki-colored clothes on a Serengeti safari? The neutral colours help you disguise and repel heat. Blue and black colored clothes attract pesky tsetse flies! Wear light, comfortable, breathable clothes on a game drive in Serengeti.

Stay Protected from the Sun

On a game drive, you have to spend many hours outdoors! Consider using sunscreen lotion and a cover-up. It provides the best protection from the sun while on a game drive. Wear a round hat, sunglasses, zip-off trousers, and a long-sleeved top. Covering yourself also protects you from mosquito bites.

It Gets Cold at Night

When the sun sets in the Serengeti, it gets cold! Pack the right to stay comfortable during the entire Serengeti vacation in Tanzania.

Do you know why the Masai people wear red? They believe that the red colour scares away dangerous animals. You can ask your guide to learn more about the local beliefs!

The Right Equipment that can capture the Actions of Serengeti

You require the best photography and video equipment to capture wildlife in the vast plains of the Serengeti. On a Serengeti Safari, you can see plenty of wildlife from close. If you want distant shots, use a lens with a focal length of 200mm or digital zoom equipment.

Viewing the wildlife with your naked eyes gives you an authentic experience on a safari drive. Put down the phone or camera to soak up the magnificent views of pristine nature and wildlife. You can watch safari videos online! When you are on the ground, enjoy wildlife viewing.

Is it hard to stabilise shots from the larger lenses? Use a small bean bag to place the lenses and take the perfect pictures on the safari vehicle. Sandbags are also helpful!

Remember: Drones are prohibited in Serengeti National Park

Safety During The Serengeti Safari

On a guided game drive, you are always safe. There are a few things to follow for safety during a Safari in the Serengeti.

Say NO to feeding the animals: By feeding animals, you can unknowingly introduce them to unhealthy foods. Feeding animals can risk to safety, as animals may approach every tourist vehicle for food!

Stay inside the Safari Vehicle: A safari vehicle has windows and a pop-top roof to allow you to take photos and view the animals. Never stick your head or arm outside the safari vehicle without permission.

Never Walk Alone: If you have to use the bush toilet, follow the instructions and avoid walking alone.

When walking around your camp at night, get accompanied by a ranger or armed guard. Stay within the boundaries of the lodge or camp.

Never walk alone after dark!

If travelling with children, stay with your child at all times. Do not allow your child to roam unattended.

Maintain Silence: Talking loudly or shouting on a game drive can agitate the animals and drive them away. Maintaining silence is good etiquette while on a safari.

Delicious Picnic Lunches

On your Serengeti safari, you get the chance to travel with a delicious packed lunch. It helps you enjoy a game drive all day long without returning to the lodge for lunch.

Picnic lunches depend on lodge requirements! You can find a few combinations mentioned below in a delicious packed lunch:

  • Water
  • Fruit juice
  • Sandwiches or wraps
  • Boiled eggs with salt
  • Fresh fruit
  • Biscuits, cakes, or muffins
  • Pasta or rice
  • Chicken drumsticks

WHAT DO TRAVELLERS SAY ABOUT SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK?

A dream came true

I have booked a 4-day Safari for me and my two adult daughters. Since I was a child, I wanted to see the Serengeti, and now my wish has come true. I am so happy that we booked with African Scenic Safari. Everything was well organized. Emmanuel was the best guide ever. He knew everything about every animal we have seen and we have seen a lot of animals. We had three nights in tented camps in Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. The tented camps were amazing. We could hear the animals (even lions) at night but we had a very comfortable tent with real beds and a very good bathroom. Breakfast and Dinner have been wonderful and the staff in every camp was so nice and we felt very safe.

How Does Your Safari in Tanzania Make a Difference?

Going on a Tanzania Safari is not just about seeing amazing wildlife — it’s also about making a real difference. Your safari adventure can help protect the environment and support local communities at the same time.

When you choose Tanzania Safari Packages, you are part of something bigger than just travel. You help conserve wildlife, protect natural areas, and create better lives for people living near the parks.
If you are someone who wants a unique and meaningful journey, a Tanzania Safari is the perfect choice for you.

Tourism Provides Employment and Promotes Conservation

Choosing a Safari Tour in Tanzania is not only about seeing amazing wildlife — it also plays a big role in protecting nature and helping people. Tanzania is home to a rich mix of animals and plants. The country has many national parks, game reserves, and protected areas where wildlife can live freely in their natural homes.

When you book your Tanzania Safari Packages, you support important efforts like:

  • Conservation Programs – A part of your safari fees helps protect wildlife and their natural habitats, making sure future generations can enjoy the beauty of Tanzania.
  • Creating Jobs – Safaris create jobs for local people as guides, park rangers, cooks, drivers, and staff at lodges and camps.
  • Supporting Local Communities – Many safaris in Tanzania partner with villages and towns, helping to build schools, clinics, and water systems.
  • Wildlife Protection – With more safaris, there’s more money for anti-poaching efforts and animal rescue programs.

Your Tanzania Safari Experience is directly connected to keeping Tanzania’s incredible nature safe. Without tourism, it would be much harder to protect wild animals like lions, elephants, rhinos, and leopards.

Quick Tip:
When planning your trip, always ask your tour operator how they support conservation. Choosing responsible companies helps you make a bigger impact while you enjoy the adventure of a lifetime!

Environment-Friendly Tour Itineraries In Tanzania Safari

When you choose a Safari in Tanzania, it’s not just about seeing beautiful animals — it’s also about travelling responsibly. Many safari companies, like African Scenic Safaris, create special eco-friendly itineraries that protect nature, support local cultures, and care for wildlife habitats.

Our safari guides focus on eco-tourism during every trip. They carefully plan routes and activities to reduce harm to the environment, respect the traditions of local people, and avoid disturbing animals in their natural homes. By following eco-friendly practices, we help preserve Tanzania’s beauty for future generations.

Here’s how your Tanzania Safari Experience supports sustainability:

  • Respect for Wildlife – Guides follow strict rules to keep a safe distance from animals, allowing them to live freely.
  • Protecting Nature – We minimize waste during safaris and make sure campsites stay clean and untouched.
  • Supporting Local Communities – Eco-safaris often include visits to villages where travelers can support local crafts and businesses.
  • Cultural Preservation – Tours are designed to respect the culture, traditions, and lands of Tanzania’s native communities.
  • Environmentally Conscious Lodging – Many safari camps use solar power, eco-friendly water systems, and sustainable building materials.

When you book responsible Tanzania Safari Packages, you become part of a bigger mission — to explore the wild while protecting it.

Quick Tip:
Looking for the Best Time to Visit Tanzania for an eco-safari? Plan your trip during the dry season (June to October) for the best wildlife viewing with the least environmental impact!

The safari tour with us allows us to donate a few parts of the earnings towards charity to the needy. We aim to initiate and assist growth projects for the locals. It provides them with the necessary guidance and funding for the short term so that they become financially and vocationally independent in the long run.

So if you want to be a part of a charity in Tanzania, contact us at – +255 (0) 784 413 801 or email us at info@africanscenicsafaris.com.

Private Safari Vs Group Safari – Which one is the best?

When planning a Tanzania Safari, one of the most important decisions you’ll have to make is whether to choose a private safari or a group safari. Both types of safaris have their advantages and disadvantages, and the decision ultimately depends on your travel preferences, budget, and group size.

While African Scenic Safaris does not arrange group safaris, we believe it’s important for you to understand the differences between small-group tours and Private Safaris In Tanzania. This way, you can determine which option suits your travel style, budget, and preferences best.

Let’s Differentiate the Two Types of Safaris in Tanzania

Private Safari

Private Tanzania Safari Tours are built just for you. You get a custom itinerary based on your interests, travel style, and timing. A private safari vehicle and a dedicated guide are fully reserved for your trip.

You decide when to start your game drives, where to stop, and how long to stay at each wildlife sighting. It’s a more personal, flexible, and comfortable way to explore Tanzania’s parks and wildlife.

Group Safari

Group Tanzania Safari Tours follow a fixed itinerary with a small group of travellers. You share the vehicle, guide, and daily plans with others. The schedule is set in advance and is designed to suit the whole group. Group  Tanzania Safari are great for travellers who enjoy meeting new people and want a more budget-friendly option.

Tanzania Private Safari vs. Group Safari – Which One is Better?

Depends on what you want from your Safari trip of a lifetime. Since Safaris in Tanzania is not affordable, make sure your deal on the safari experience will be a long-lasting and unforgettable memory.

More Expensive

Are Tanzania Group Safaris more Affordable than Private Safaris in Tanzania?

The main Tanzania Safari Cost consists of many things: costs for transport, entrance fees for the national parks, accommodation costs, salary for staff, and other costs. If you choose a Group Safari you will save money on transport and salary/tips for your guide, since you share it with more people.

You might also get a cheaper price for accommodation. The more rooms you book, the cheaper it gets. So, the safari will be a bit more affordable. But no matter your choice, a Tanzania Safari does not come cheap. You are going to spend much more than on an average trip.

Choosing a private safari, however, gives you unmatched flexibility, a personalised itinerary, and the freedom to explore at your own pace. With a private guide dedicated solely to you, your experience feels more exclusive, comfortable, and tailored to your interests. For a truly rewarding Tanzania Safari Experience, we encourage you to opt for a private safari.
