Day 1 - Arrival in Tanzania
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Moshi.
Overnight in Summit Retreat
Day 2: Moshi
Marangu village visit
Around 9am, you will head to the village of Marangu, in the heart of the Chagga lands, the Kilimanjaro tribe. Enjoy a day surrounded by lush nature, banana trees, and coffee plants, and discover the Marangu waterfalls. You will visit the village, caves, and witness coffee preparation. You will also help to harvest some coffee beans with the locals or help to make some coffee as well as make preparations for Banana beer.
Included: Hotel transfers, vehicle, meals, guide, waterfall entrance fees.
Day 3: Moshi
Experience a full day at Moskiza Football Club!
Start your morning by visiting the Football Club. You will get a tour of the facility and learn about their work for the local youth before providing two engaging workshops for the children on two of the following themes: 1. Sports and fitness, 2. Personal development and leadership, 3. Career and skills development, 4. Creative and performing art or 5. Mental and emotional well-being. Please choose the topic that you would like to educate the children on and prepare your workshop beforehand. And don’t worry, it does not have to be a professional workshop, just work from your enthusiasm about your topics of choice.
In the morning, you will give one workshop to the children.
You will then lend a hand in preparing a delicious lunch and enjoy it together with the children. After lunch, you will give the second workshop to the children. And we will cap off the day with an exciting afternoon football match!
Day 4: Moshi
Tree Planting with the Kiviwama Project
Kick off your morning by learning about various tree species and propagation techniques. In the afternoon, put your knowledge into action by planting trees at a local school together with the students. For each group, this will be a different school, so that all schools in the area benefit from this project.
Day 5: Moshi
Re-Cycling Tour
Today, you will start your day by going to One Bike Tanzania shop. There, you will be given a bike, a recycled backpack and a trash tong. You will then head to Memorial market where you will pick-up the trash (mostly plastic bottles). After filling your bag, we will head to the recycling facility where you will give what you picked up.
After that, you will head for a local lunch in Moshi.
After lunch, you will go for a cycling city tour in Moshi before finishing at the bike shop and heading back to your hotel!
Day 6: Arusha
Visiting Mbwa wa Africa Project
Today, you will head to Arusha to participate in Mbwa wa Africa project. The Mbwa wa Africa Animal Rescue & Clinic, founded in 2013, is dedicated to improving animal welfare through rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption services in the Arusha region. We will visit their premises where you can pet some dogs and cats. And you will be able to walk the dogs under supervision. A donation towards food supplies for their rescues will be made on your behalf. And it is very much appreciated if you would be so kind as to bring some supplies from your home country that are not easily accessible in Tanzania.
Day 7: Mto wa Mbu
A Day in Tarangire National Park
Spend the day exploring Tarangire National Park, known for its vast elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Enjoy a game drive through the park, spotting lions, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of bird species. Take a break for a picnic lunch in a scenic spot, surrounded by nature.
In the afternoon, continue your safari adventure, following the Tarangire River, where animals gather to drink. As the sun sets, soak in the breathtaking views before heading back, ending the day with unforgettable wildlife encounters.
Day 8: Mto wa Mbu
Full day in Mto wa Mbu
In this program you will explore home away from home experience.
Learn new skills, explore authentic local cultural experience, enjoy delicious traditional foods, get exposure to everyday life, make new friends, etc. We offer both Maasai tribe homestay and non-Maasai homestay which will introduce you to new language and culture Swahili language and culture or "Maa" language and their fascinating cultural practices.
Cooking class: You will enjoy engaging practically to learn how to cook different Tanzanian dishes, and clients may participate in the picking of vegetables and other materials needed for the cooking from the moma’s farm; also will go for shopping to the local colorfully market for cooking staff assisted with and meal. You will meet charming people in the market and learn some Swahili as well.
You will learn and experience to cook different food such as ugali, rice, beans, chapatti, makande, pilau, bamia (okra), and egg plants. Also mchicha (traditional spinach), bananas, sweet potatoes, cabbage, etc. They will experience how to prepare fruits such as bananas, oranges, watermelons, avocados...and even how to prepare ‘kachumbari’-salad; which are all organic grown from farms and gardens of the green oasis of Mto wa Mbu.
You will then share the meals with the local people.
Homestay:
At your homestay you will experience daily life activities of Tanzania; a home away from home while immersing yourself in the culture and daily routines of the local community. You will participate in family activities, and learning about local traditions and customs. Apart from learning Swahili you will have a chance to engaging daily life activities of your host family and experience daily Tanzanian lifestyle while relaxing enjoying local hospitality, you participate doing activities such as banana harvesting, sweeping, vegetable planting, cooking, etc. Learning how to wear ‘’Kanga’’ will make your day memorable.
You will also get involved in an irrigation and treeplanting program.
Day 9: Mto wa Mbu
A Day in Ngorongoro Crater
Experience a safari in the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, home to an incredible concentration of wildlife. Begin the day with a scenic descent into the crater, where you can spot the Big Five, including lions, elephants, and possibly the rare black rhino.
Enjoy a picnic lunch by a hippo-filled lake before continuing your game drive through the diverse landscapes of grasslands and acacia forests. As the day ends, ascend the crater rim, taking in the stunning views before heading back.
Day 10: Lake Natron

Arrive in Gelai Camp. After a long drive you can stretch your legs with a short walk along the lake and relax in the natural spa before and/or after dinner. Daniel, your guide, a Maasai from the area, will accompany you, and brief you for the next day’s visit. Be ready to learn some Maasai greetings and pack what you will need for the early morning activity.
On the way, you will be able to visit daycare. You will be able to bring painting colours, sport equipment, and books. Please note that the school is closed on week-ends and holidays so it might not be possible to visit the daycare. However, the supplies will still be donated on your behalf.

Day 11: Lake Natron
Pastoral experience in Lake Natron
Rise before the sun and set off for Daniel’s boma, a traditional Maasai homestead. Upon arrival, meet the family and their livestock, stepping straight into the rhythm of pastoral life. Join in the morning routine—milking the cows, tending to the young animals, and preparing the herd for the day's grazing. As you take part in these essential tasks, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the Maasai’s resourceful way of life and how their homestead is carefully arranged to meet their daily needs.
Once the animals are ready, set out on a scenic hike, accompanying the herders as they guide their livestock to pasture. Along the way, immerse yourself in the vast landscape, learn about the local flora and fauna, and witness the deep connection between the Maasai and their land.
Return to camp for a well-earned lunch and relaxation. Take in the serenity of the surroundings, reflect on your experience, and recharge for the evening ahead.
As the day cools and the golden hues of sunset take over, embark on a tranquil birdwatching walk. Keep your eyes peeled for majestic storks, pelicans, and a variety of other bird species, all drawn to this magical hour—just like you.

Meet the hosts and community members, start exploring the organization of the boma
Morning Pastoral Activities (6:30 AM - 8:00 AM)
Animal Organization & Milking:
Assist in morning milking and understand cattle care.
Learn about boma structure, family organization, and Maasai polygamous traditions.
Water Management & Fetching Water:
Discover how water is collected, stored, and managed daily or the boma and its specific geographical location
Cattle & Economy (8:00 AM - 9:00 AM):
Learn about cattle breeds, Maasai wealth (the "living bank"), and income sources
You will partake in guiding the animals towards pasture and ensure to guide the calves back inside while the cows are taken out.
Cultural Exchange & Rest (9:00 AM - 10:00 AM)
Take a break, have a chat with the boma elder and family members, make sure to drink some water, you can try the tea made of the fresh milk, and learn more about Maasai traditions: their elaborate age set system, their rites of passage, and marriage arrangements.
Herding & Hike to the Caldera (10:00 AM - 12:30 PM)
Depart with sheep and goats for a 2-hour walk to the caldera.
Enjoy a light breakfast on the way (make sure to bring some additional food for the herders that will walk with you.
Immerse yourself in the local environment, gain deeper insights into the Maasai way of life, and take in the stunning views and refreshing breeze along the caldera’s rim.
Return & Departure (12:30 PM - 1:00 PM)
Arrive back at the boma and head to camp for lunch and rest.
Day 12: Mukuru
Mukuru Sacred Site
Enjoy the last morning in the Gelai Camp where the view has much to offer before heading out to your next destination.
Today is crafted to offer a deeper connection with your environment and its people, nourishing your soul and imparting wonder at Africa’s natural bounty.
Visiting the sacred site of Mukuru in the heart of Maasailand offers an exclusive opportunity to interact with the ancient healing traditions of the Maasai tribe. Your stay directly supports their children’s education at Mukuru Primary School, and grants you the opportunity to give back for what you will receive in blessings from their elders.
Activities:
Get warmth welcome with maasai wisdom keepers , enjoy a Hot lunch then Hike to Whispering Cave at 3 30 pm (approx. 1h).
Finish the day with traditional maasai rituals.
Day 13: Moshi
Return to Moshi
Enjoy your morning in Mukuru Sacred Site and return back to Moshi.
